NC State Men’s Soccer Defends Home Against the Seahawks

RALEIGH – Tonight the men’s soccer team of North Carolina State University got into a battle with the UNCW Seahawks. The spectacle took place at none other than Dail Soccer Stadium, home of the Wolfpack.

Even though it was not a conference game for the Pack, it was still a big win, especially considering the Seahawks, who are leading their league, were 9-4 before the game. After tying the last two games, it was a relief to most of the players to get the win. However, defending home against the Seahawks was no easy task and came down to the final minutes.

The final score of the game came out to be 2-1 Wolfpack. The first goal of the game came from forward Clayton Sparks with 27:23 left in the first half. Forward Manny Perez assisted Sparks on the play.

The rest of the first half was back and forth play with 3 total shots on goal for the Pack and 2 for the Seahawks. At the start of the second half the Seahawks began attacking the Wolfpack’s side eventually drawing a penalty. The yellow card was on defender Simon Blotko of the Wolfpack and awarded the Seahawks a penalty shot.

Leon Kraph, the goalie of the Wolfpack, managed to keep the shot from going in keeping the Pack ahead. With 9:50 left in the second half the Seahawks finally score a goal. Midfielder Kalvin Kromer of the Seahawks got it past Kraph of the Pack and tied the game up 1-1.

Roughly five minutes later, with 4:08 left in the game, Forward Ade Taiwo scored another goal for the Wolfpack with another assist from Manny Perez. The final four minutes of the game the Wolfpack managed to hold off the Seahawks and kept the score in their favor.

The final shots on goal total for the Wolfpack was 6 and for the Seahawks was 4. A total of two yellow cards were given to the Seahawks and only one for the Wolfpack. This Saturday the Wolfpack travel to Kentucky to take on Louisville and the Seahawks also play Saturday against Hofstra in New York.
