Queens Proves to be too much for NC State Rugby

On a cold windy night at Upper Method Field, the Queens University Women’s Rugby team proved exactly why they were 8-0 going into tonight’s contest. After an early threat by the Wolfpack, Queens University turned it around winning 49-0 en route to their 9th win of the season.

Queens Rugby took control all game and was led by Nicole Mitchell, Antares Lance, and Ella Brucker. Antares Lance led the trio, utilizing her speed and quickness to make key plays for the team and contributing on every score for the team tonight. Her score halfway through the first half provided enough to lead the team to victory.

On the other side, NC State was led by Darien Hewett, Alyssa Pellegrino, and Guste Rubikaite. Despite the tough loss, all three made strong contributions on both sides of the ball. Many times their defense would “bend but not break”, but consistent possession from Queens wore down the defense.

Tonight’s game concluded the fall season for the Wolfpack. They finish the season 1-4-1, with a 69-10 win over Charlotte on September 22nd and a tie against Elon in their season opener.
