Women’s Tennis Defeats Clemson 6-1

RALEIGH – #11 NC State Women’s Tennis hosted Clemson at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in the first part of its double header and won 6-1. After this victory, the Wolfpack rise to a 13-3 record with an ACC record of 5-1, continuing the best start the team has had in twenty years.

The Wolfpack rose victorious in their doubles matches with #12 Anna Rogers and Alana Smith winning 6-4, Claudia Wiktorin and Adriana Reami winning 6-2, and Liz Norman and Bianca Moldovan were halted while they were at a 5-3 lead. Their success in doubles gave the Wolfpack a 1 point advantage as the singles matches start.

The Wolfpack’s triumph continues into the singles round with the first three matches taking the win. #28 Rogers dominated in her singles match (6-2) (6-1). #90 Smith defeated her opponent (6-4) (6-0). #103 Reami secured her win with a score of (6-1) (6-0). Bianca Moldovan won her 8th match in a row and hasn’t lost since February 11th. Her score was (6-3) (6-1). Amanda Rebol ended the match with a thrilling tie breaker and came out victorious (6-3) (7-6).

Up next for #11 Women’s Tennis is their second match of their double header against Appalachian State at 6:00 PM at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. After the double header, they set out to Indian Wells, California to play against Baylor in the BNP Paribas Opener on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 4:00 PM.
