PACK MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO #3 WAKE FOREST

RALEIGH – The NC State Men’s Tennis team played host to the #3 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. They lost a hard fought battle 2-4 coming off a big win against Louisville. The Wolfpack have played 3 of their last 4 matches against top 3 ranked opponents, and are still knocking on the door of the top 25, sitting at #30.

The Pack came out hot with #57 Alexis Galarneau/Michael Ogden defeating #61 Borna Gojo/Alan Gadjiev 6-3, as well as the twins Igor and Ivan Saveljic defeating Siddhant Banthia/Julian 7-6 (7-3) to secure the doubles point.

In the singles matches the Pack began to struggle, #18 Alexis Galarneau fell to #50 Borna Gojo 7-5, 6-1, while playing through what appeared to be some ankle pains. Igor Saveljic fought hard against #3 Petros Chrysochos, but a slow start caused him to lose 6-2, 6-7, 7-6. The sole singles winner for the Pack was Yannai Barkai defeating Rrezart Cungu 6-4, 7-5, but the final dagger was Siddhant Banthia of WFU beating Georgiy Malyshev in the 6 spot.

The Pack will look to get back on track playing at Boston College on Friday, March 22nd at 4pm. Coming off an incredibly tough 4 game stretch, the Pack will want to get back to winning ways headed into another tough matchup against #14 ranked Notre Dame in South Bend on the following Sunday, March 24th
