Women’s Tennis Takes Down Winthrop Eagles on Senior Day

RALEIGH – At J.W Isenhour Tennis Center on April 7, 2019 #10 NC State hosted the Winthrop Eagles. This is their second match off the day, coming off of a tough fight against the Florida State Seminoles earlier this afternoon.

The evening started with the doubles matches with #9 Anna Rogers / Alana Smith, Claudia Wiktorin / Adriana Reami, and Bianca Moldovan / Liz Norman. The duo of Rogers and Smith trailed the Winthrop pair closely until the end, tying the score 5-5 going into the final game. After heading into an extra game with Winthrop having the advantage (6-5), the Eagles won the battle, finishing with a score of 7-5. Wiktorin and Reami made an impressive comeback after trailing 3-1 at the beginning of the set, making a move to win with a final score of 6-4. Moldovan and Norman found their grove a little too late in the set and Winthrop walked away with the win, finishing with a final score of 6-3.

The singles round featured #15 Anna Rogers, #75 Alana Smith, #112 Adriana Reami, Liz Norman, Bianca Moldovan, Amanda Rebol. Rogers, Reami, and Moldovan maintained a dominant lead throughout the first set, all finishing their first set with a win. Rogers and Reami went on to win their matches, putting the Wolfpack in the lead by one. Despite a hard-fought battle for Norman and Smith, Winthrop was able to come from behind and take back the lead. Moldovan and Rebol responded with crucial wins, making the final score 4-3 and bringing home another win for our top ten ranked Wolfpack Women’s Tennis team.

The Wolfpack Women are back in action this Wednesday, April 10 as they take on the Duke Blue Devils in Durham and look to continue their winning streak. Their next match close to home will be the ACC Championships in Cary, North Carolina.
