Wolfpack Stays Hot Against the Blue Devils

RALEIGH – NC State came into today’s conference matchup against the Duke Blue Devils on a six game win streak with three of those games being 3-0 wins. The Pack swept the Blue Devils 3-0 moving to 6-0 in the conference and 11-6 overall. The team’s now seven game win streak is a considerable improvement from the beginning of the season where they started out 0-5.

This afternoon, NC state shut down Duke early with a win in the first set. The Pack were down most of the second set, but gained momentum late and came back to win. Their momentum late in the 2nd set carried them to victory in the 3rd. NC State Senior, #11 Julia Brown stood out as one of the games impact players. She had 18 points, 16 kills, and 6 digs.  

Set 1: The Wolfpack came into the game and won the first 3 points in the set, from there, the set remained close with possession alternating every couple of points. The winning point of the set was scored on a kill by #15 Kaitlyn Kearney who had 4 other kills in the first set. Other noteworthy players are #30, Teni Sopitan who had 3 kills and #11, Julia Brown who had 5 kills.

Set 2: In the second set, Duke took the lead early and did not give it up until late in the set. NC State was down 24-19 and went on a 5-0 run to tie the set, this momentum carried them to a 27-25 set victory. Julia Brown dominated again with 7 kills during the second set which no doubt kept NC State alive long enough to make their comeback win. The set was decided on an attack error by Duke’s Payton Schwantz. NC State took their second set momentum into the third set.

Set 3: NC State took the second set victory and ran with it all the way to winning the third set, and therefore the match. The final score of the 3rd set was 25-18 with the deciding point on a kill by Teni Sopitan. Julia Brown continued to shine during this set with 3 kills.

The Pack will be back in action on Friday, October 13th at 7:00 PM looking to maintain their undefeated conference record in a matchup at home against Virginia Tech.
