Where We Came From

What is PackTV?

PackTV is a student-driven, all-Wolfpack sports station at NC State University. We cover all aspects of NC State sports from the big football game through the intramural championships. If it is happening in NC State sports, it is happening on PackTV.

Here’s a little history…

WolfBytes Sports

The first NC State sports programming that would ultimately become PackTV aired beginning with the fall, 2008 semester. Each night sports programming aired on the WolfBytes information channel. The first live broadcast on WolfBytes Sports Television of a full-length game was a match between the women’s soccer team and Clemson on October 1st, 2009. The Pack won the game, 2-1. That fall, our Facebook page was started.

WolfBytes Television and Radio

In July 2010, WolfBytes Sports Television officially launched on its own channel, channel 92, effectively replacing the Wolf TV movie channel. With the move, we launched our Twitter account and began broadcasting NC State sports 24/7.

In 2011, WolfBytes Sports Television became Wolfpack Sports Television and began to focus on club sports. Our Vimeo page was started and, in the spring, our first full-length broadcast of a club sports game took place when NC State’s rugby team played East Carolina. The same semester we broadcast our first hockey game when the Pack hosted Central Florida.

PackTV

Wolfpack Sports Television continued to grow and, in the fall of 2016, became PackTV. By the end of 2016, PackTV had launched on Apple TV and Roku.
