Pack Baseball Keeping It Clean After A Weekend Sweep Against Miami

In last night’s baseball game against The Elon Phoenix, the #5 NC State Wolfpack had yet again another successful night under the lights on Doak Field at Dail Park as they defeated the Phoenix 21-2. The Wolfpack continued their winning streak of 5 to improve on their record of 24-1 and 8-1 in conference.
Coming off a successful weekend in Miami, Florida, the Wolfpack came out ready to take on the Phoenix during their 6:00pm game last night. With one game win against The Phoenix in Elon, NC, the Wolfpack was out for another win during this match up. The Wolfpack came out ready and was on fire with 3 home runs, 20 RBIs, all while holding Elon off with 19 strike outs.

The game started off strong with Evan Edwards’ homer to center field in the 1st inning allowing 3 runs scored, resulting in an exciting 3-0 start. Edwards lead the Wolfpack with 6 RBI’s and 2 hits during the game, followed by Will Wilson with 4 RBI’s and 2 hits. The excitement continued with back-to-back runs allowing the Wolfpack to improve to 10-0 at the bottom of the second. The Phoenix put up a fight in the third and fourth innings as the Phoenix scored their only runs off a single RBI by Tyler Stanley in the top of the third and a single RBI in the fourth by Adam Spurlin. NC State’s Edwards and Wilson continue with a strong game in the third with Edwards’ successful double allowing 3 runs to score and Wilson’s single allowing 2 runs to score resulting in a score of 15-2.

The Wolfpack coaching staff got to get creative during this game, as they were able to play with the lineups and substitutions. With a quiet remainder of the game, freshman Marek Chlup showed out with a homer advancing the score in the 6th inning to 18-2. Pitcher, Mathieu Gauthier, also had a great day as he was able to be at bat in the 7th hitting a single allowing for 2 RBIs and finished pitching the game starting in the 7th inning only allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, and 6 strikeouts.

NC State looks forward to the upcoming match ups this week after last night’s great win, as the Wolfpack will meet North Carolina A&T away this Wednesday, March 27th, at 6 P.M. They will be back on Doak Field Friday, March 29th, at 6:30 P.M.
