Brown Leads Pack on Senior Night

RALEIGH – The NC State Wolfpack women’s volleyball team really came out swinging Saturday, November 11th at Reynolds Coliseum versus Georgia Tech, especially Senior Julia Brown. On senior night, Julia had 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .293 which helped to boost the Wolfpack past ACC competitor, Georgia Tech.

Julia was hitting rockets at the Georgia Tech defenders and they had no answer. The rest of the Wolfpack team contributed as well, beating the Yellow Jackets in 3 straight sets.

Julia is an outside hitter for the Wolfpack who made an impact early as a sophomore in the program. She solidified her starting role for the Pack her Junior year. Julia turned in a fantastic season last year in which she received All-Region Team and First Team All-ACC honors. So far in her college career she has broken the program record with 489 kills but surpassed that record very quickly and, at the end of her junior year she recorded 894.

Recently, Julia reached 1000 career kills in NC State’s win over LIU Brooklyn. Accomplishing this made her only one of three players in the ACC with at least 1000 career kills. Julia has truly had a record breaking career for the Wolfpack.

Julia helped the Pack on both sides of the ball today, offensively and defensively. Whenever the game got close they gave the ball to Julia for an easy point. In the second set of the match the Yellow Jackets were up by 2 points, leading the Wolfpack 13-11. The Pack setters were feeding Julia who made a couple of huge plays that ended the Jackets rally and to later lead the Pack to victory.

The Wolfpack dominated the Yellow Jackets in every category of the game, which helped lead to the 3-0 sweep. The Pack had more kills, points scored, aces, blocks, assists and digs.

Post-game was all emotions for the Seniors that are graduating. The 6 seniors include Julia Brown, Kaitlyn Kearney, Emily Harris, Perry Ramsey, and Bree Bailey. After the game there was a meet and greet with the seniors.

With the match victory the Wolfpack improved to a regular season 19-8 record and an ACC record of 14-2.

The Wolfpack broke the program record for ACC wins in a single season and they also went undefeated in conference at home for the first time since 1988 when the squad only played three home matches.
