By Abby Porter

On Sunday, the final day of the NC State Invitational, the Wolfpack (11-6) swept Campbell (5-13) with a 9-1 victory. NC State has also kept their opponents under 2 runs for eight consecutive games.

Five of the nine runs were home runs. Bridgette Nordberg homered two of the runs bringing her to 11 home runs this season. Other homers were from Logan Morris, taking her to fifth home run this year, and Skylar Johnston, with her first home run. Only allowing one earned run, Devin Wallace pitched her fifth complete game for the season.

Back to back home runs were scored in the first inning. First, Nordberg homered one to center field, sending in Sam Russ to score a run. Next at bat, Johnston homered it to left field.

In the third inning, Nordberg and Morris were back at it with two straight home runs, helping the Wolfpack advance to 5-0.

The Camels got their first run in the fifth inning when Abby Perryman got on base with a single to second base. Kynadi Tipler brought Perryman home with a double to center field.

During the bottom of the fifth, Wolfpack’s Logan Morris got on base by a walk to only move to second with a center field single from Natalie Jones. Passed balls allowed Morris and Jones to advance on when a single from Randi Farricker sent them both to home plate, putting the Pack up by six runs at 7-1.

Nordberg’s double brought Chandley Garner home in the sixth inning. A fielding error of Skylar Johnston’s single allowed Nordberg to score.

The Wolfpack (11-6) will host the Valparaiso Crusaders (5-8) on Tuesday, March 5 at 12pm.
