(Raleigh, NC) The Icepack (21-3-0) faced off Friday night versus the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks for the second time this season. In the first meeting in the Fall, the Icepack won 10-2 on the road. The Pack is on a roll winning 15 straight enterings tonight. The Icepack needs to sweep these weekend games versus the Seahawks and UNC Charlotte to give the Pack their second consecutive regular-season title and the number one seed in the ACCHL tournament.
The Icepack hosted senior night while naming six senior starters Friday including Matt Costigan, Owen Drugan, Alex Katz, Ryan Kinney “C”, Brendan Seppey, and Josh Cannon.
The Pack started hot in the first period by scoring the first goal 46 seconds into the game by Senior Matt Costigan. The Seahawks came back quickly scoring a goal and tying the score at 1. Two more goals were scored by Ian O’Rourke with an assist from Parker Szarek and another one scored by Chris Solomon with an assist from Parker Szarek.
The second period was all Pack. Four goals were scored by Alex Robinson, Matt Costigan, Chris Solomon, and Laythe Jadallah. During this period, Parker Szarek assisted on his third goal of the night. The goals stopped and the third period was all defense and zero goals.
The Packs streak reaches 16 in a row with a 7-1 over UNC-Wilmington. The Icepack play Saturday versus UNC Charlotte.
