Make That 10 for the Pack in Shutout Fashion

RALEIGH – In honor of breast cancer awareness month, the pink found in the jerseys of the North Carolina State’s soccer appeared to do nothing less than power the Pack to their tenth victory Women’s on the season. In today’s annual Pink Match, the lady pack hosted the Syracuse Orange in which later would result in a 3-0 victory for the Wolfpack.

Leading the team to their win was #2, Tziarra King who rallied two goals in the game, totaling her to 9 goals thus far this season. The victory also marked the Wolfpack’s eighth shutout of the season. The Wolfpack now improves to 10-4- 1 (3-3- 1 ACC) as the Orange sit at 7-6- 2 (2-4- 1 ACC).

In a post game interview, Head Coach, Tim Sontoro stated, “We were complete for the whole game. It was nice playing at home after being on the road for three and a half weeks. Just to get home was nice, but we were pretty thorough in every facet of the game the entire 90 minutes, which is what we wanted to do. We have to put together complete games down the stretch.”

It was evident the area of emphasis going into today’s game was game completion as the Wolfpack dominated the dribble from the opening whistle. The aggressive possession from NC State limited the Orange to only 4 shots for the entirety of the game, with only 1 shot being on net. The sole shot of the game gave Sydney Wootten her lone save, which came at the 89th minute. However, NC State capitalized on their time of possession by producing a .500 shot-on-goal percentage from their 16 shots.

The Wolfpack look to continue their winning way as they host Clemson on October 19 at 7 p.m. Matchup can be viewed on the ACC Network Extra.
